Castle of the House Tyrell and the Queen of Thorns. After that, we will have lunch in a steakhouse just a few meters from the castle.

You will learn the origins of one of the most amazing arabic fortress in Spain, built on 740.

The town of Almodovar del Rio, situated in the province of Cordoba, played an extremely important role in the city’s defence owing to its strategic location on a hill around 252 metres high next to the Guadalquivir river, which at that time was navigable for small vessels. The traces of multiple cultures, amongst which are Islam and Christianity, can be evidenced in the architectural style of this unique building.

FRIDAY 8TH OF DECEMBER

Royal Alcazares, Royal Shipyards, Itálica roman city- Water Gardens, Kingslanding catacombs, Dragonpit

We are also preparing a visit to the Royal Shipyards of Seville (Catacombs of Kingslanding);

The shipyards were built in 1252, just four years after the reconquest of the city by the Christians, by king Alfonso X, for the construction of the galleys needed by the Spanish to guard the Straits of Gibraltar against the Moors and protect Spanish shipping in the Mediterranean. There were originally seventeen naves, and up to thirty ships could be constructed at the same time, but now only seven remain in more or less their original condition. They can be found along the outside of the stretch of city wall by the Postigo del Aceite (Oil Gate), and once continued as far as the Postigo del Carbón (Coal Gate) and the Torre del Plata.

After that, we will visit the Royal Alcazar (Sunspear Water Gardens), a complex of palaces surrounded by a wall from the X century. It is one of the most visited monuments on the city. Residence of the spanish royal family when they are visiting Sevilla and, by the way, it is the oldest royal palace in use in Europe.

For lunch time, we have chosen another steakhouse near Italica: el Ventorrillo Canario. It is a restaurant where you can enjoy the best meat, with both good service and good prices.

To finish our tour, we will be visiting Itálica (Dragonpit), located in Santiponce, just a few meters from the steakhouse where we are going to lunch. Itálica was an elaborate Roman city in the province of Hispania Baetica and the birthplace of Roman Emperors Trajan and Hadrian.
